Both teams are having a tough time to adjust to the level of performance required by their respective fans ahead of the tournament. Portugal drew 0-0 against 117th ranked Cape Verde despite the presence of attacking minded stars such as Manchester United’s Luis Nani and Real Madrid’s play maker Cristiano Ronaldo. Speaking in a press conference, Chelsea’s Ricardo Cavalho admitted Portugal’s unconvincing form and stressed his side’s need to improve.

“Yes, we could have done a lot better against Cape Verde. We know we’re not in the good form we’re supposed to be,” Carvalho declared.

“We need to work and improve. I hope the lack of rhythm doesn’t influence our performance at the World Cup. Of course, it’s important for the coach to have everyone on top form. Some players aren’t but we’re working in order to be in shape for the World Cup.”

Cameroon weren’t impressive either in their alarming 1-1 draw against fellow 2010 World Cup participants Slovakia. The Indomitable Lions had their captain Samuel Eto’o criticized by country legend Roger Milla for his arguably poor performances under the Cameroonian jersey. It resulted in the Inter Milan threatening to quit the national team ahead of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Coach Paul Leguen will hope that this recent issue doesn’t affect his squad badly.
